Other groups and what they could provide

Someone on the Cuckoo net suggested that we contact the Red Cross about
the possibility that they would be willing to put up a sample shelter, with
some cots and all, and I gather those sheltered have to log in and out of a
shelter, as one comes and goes, so that they know who is there, etc.

Great idea, and it fits in perfectly with making this an interactive event as opposed to a museum look and don't touch display event! I'll pass it along, and hopefully the Red Cross will be willing to do this.

I like the idea of the American Red Cross setting up a simulated shelter.

If they want to get involved, it might even be appropriate for them to conduct real Orientation Training for volunteers.

This also might be a great opportunity for one or more group to conduct a simulated emergency and/or conduct other real drills.

This could be a win-win, with the groups gaining more experience and the attendees seeing how an emergency would be managed. It could even motivate attendees to become volunteers.
